Acting, Improvisation, Scene Work & Musical Theatre
Grades 6-12 — Musical Theater OPTIONAL
(no class February 17th, March 16 & Apr. 13th – makeup date for missed class due to inclement weather is May 11th.)
This is an improvisational workout geared towards helping actors find creativity and enhance their skills as a performer. Actors are trained to follow their instincts on stage through exercises that focus on performing scenes with little or no rehearsal. It is important for students at this age to let go of how they feel they should perform, and instead start to just be on stage. To free the actor from their own pre-conceived notions of a role, or scene, and to produce a more versatile and daring actor, in depth character work is encouraged. This class has an additional emphasis on singing songs from a variety of Broadway shows (however, your child may opt out of singing if so desired), acting and movement/dance. In-depth musical theater training, song preparation/vocal performance and scene work. Parent observation day will be during the last class of the session, where we will perform songs, scenes and improvised skits.
All class sizes are small to insure a safe & nurturing environment. This allows students to explore more freely as well as to receive individual attention. All classes consist of improvisation games, scene study, movement, technique, character development, audition preparation, voice and diction and an opportunity to build self-confidence!
